AN inexperienced armed robber was overpowered by a mob after a foiled attempt to rob a butchery in Chitungwiza.
Mncedisi Ndlovu appeared before Harare magistrate, Marewanazvo Gofa, yesterday.
The court heard that on Sunday, Ndlovu attacked the complainant, who is an attendant at Hunda Butchery, in Chitungwiza.
He was armed with a pistol.
He demanded cash from her, but she resisted.
He allegedly then produced a pistol, serial number 9324070, which was loaded with one live round and threatened to shoot her.
Ndlovu forcibly opened the till and took US$200 in cash.
The complainant shouted for help and Ndlovu was overpowered by members of the public who pushed him back into the butchery and disarmed him.
Ndlovu was later handed over to CID Homicide detectives.
