NEW: Infant run over by reversing truck

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly check surroundings before reversing.

This follows a fatal accident that happened at Navata Business Centre, Zhombe on October 27 and  left a one year and seven months old infant dead after being run over by an Iveco rigid truck which was reversing.

“The ZRP implores motorists to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly check surroundings before reversing.

“This follows a fatal road traffic accident in which an infant (one year seven months) died after being run over by an Iveco rigid truck which was reversing at Navata Business Centre, Zhombe on October 27,  2024 at around 0800 hours.

“Meanwhile, a male juvenile (15) died upon admission at a hospital in Tsholotsho after falling from a moving Toyota Hilux vehicle at the 90 kilometre peg along Bulawayo –Tshefunye Road on October 26, 2024.

“The victim was clinging to the mudguard of a trailer which was being towed by the vehicle. The driver did not stop after the accident. Investigations are in progress,” ZRP said.
