President Mnangagwa has applauded development partners for supporting and undertaking multiple capacity building programmes.

Officially opening the inaugural Climate and Health Africa Conference in Harare on Wednesday, the President said these programmes have laid a foundation for strong and sustainable institutions in the quest to address climate-related issues.

“Our beloved continent is enduring the worst effects of global warming. The impacts are profound. Costing African economies between 3 and 5 percent of our GDPs,” he said.

“The harsh realities are distinctive. Climate change is not merely an environmental disaster but a public health emergency.”

He said the decisions made at the conference should pave the way for a healthier and more sustainable Africa, where no-one and no place is left behind.
