Inflation rises

YEAR-on-year inflation for August rose marginally to 1,28 percent after gaining 0,03 percentage points from July. The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) said the Consumer Price Index (CPI) between August 2012 and August increased by an average of 1,28 percentage points.

“The year on year food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation prone to transitory shocks stood at 0,94 percent whilst the Non-food inflation rate was 1,44 percent,” said the ZimStat in a statement.

It said the month-on-month inflation rate in August 2013 was -0,15 percent gaining 0,23 percentage points on the July 2013 rate of -0,38 percent.

This means that prices as measured by the all items CPI decreased at an average rate of 0,15 percent from July 2013 to August 2013.
