Informal traders appeal for bailout

Some Chitungwiza residents who rely on informal trading, are appealing to Government and well-wishers for an economic bailout after their business were affected by the lockdown.

Chitungwiza Residents Trust (Chitrest) director Ms Alice Kuvheya said the situation required urgent attention.

“As Chitrest, we are looking for donations to help the vulnerable,” he said. “The Government should make urgent plans to give us food now.”

Chitungwiza and Manyame Residents acting director Mr Brighton Kanyama made the same a similar appeal.

“People cannot access some basic commodities in shops, which are very expensive on the black market,” he said. “We need proper mechanisms for the distribution of basic commodities such as mealie-meal.”
