A delegation from the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services is currently touring health facilities in Bulawayo to assess the progress of various ongoing projects.
The delegation, which includes the Deputy Minister, Dr Omphile Marupi has so far visited United Bulawayo Hospitals, where they saw a state-of-the-art laboratory that is currently being installed with equipment.

The laboratory, the first in Zimbabwe, will have a number of areas that cover patient investigation.
The nine departments include Hematology, Biochemistry, Histopathology, Immunology/Serology, a Blood bank, Microbiology and Viral Load/Tuberculosis testing.

With the opening of the laboratory, they hope to attract clients in the SADC region, and already have specialists who have been trained to work in the Laboratory.
They also inspected a solar farm that was installed at the hospital by development partners, which now powers the whole institution.
The delegation is also set to visit Mpilo Central Hospital and Cowdray Park Health Facilities.
Zimpapers Health and Gender Editor Robin Muchetu and News Reporter, Raymond Jaravaza will give live updates of the tour.
Deputy Minister Marupi tours Cowdary Park Health Centre

DEPUTY Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Omphile Marupi has toured the Cowdray Park Health Centre as part of the ministry’s mandate to have an appreciation of developmental projects in the city.
The Cowdray Park Health Centre was officially opened by President Mnangagwa on 2 August 2023.
Following the ceremonial opening, the Health Centre was officially handed over to the Ministry of Health and Child Care on 4 August 2023.
Deputy Minister Marupi and his delegation were taken on a tour of the health facility by Dr Brian Matoro, the facility’s head of institution.
The health facility has a imaging room, female ward, pediatric ward, male ward, rehabilitation room and dispensary among others.
Since it started operating Cowdray Park Health Centre has brought healthcare closer to the people of Cowdray Park, serving the city’s most populous suburb whilst decongesting the current referral hospitals in Bulawayo.
