Bulawayo-based Ingwebu Breweries has expanded its workforce by 21 employees following the installation of a state-of-the-art US$1.7 million PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) beer packaging plant.
The investment is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance product distribution, extend shelf life, and strengthen its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving beverage industry.
In an interview with Zimpapers Business Hub on Thursday, Ingwebu Breweries managing director Mr Dumisani Mhlanga confirmed the new employment levels and emphasised the significance of the development.
“We have been operating the new plant for the past two weeks. This project is a game-changer for Ingwebu Breweries,” said Mr Mhlanga.
“The PET packaging plant will enable us to modernise our operations, increase production efficiency, and meet growing consumer demand for convenient and durable packaging.”
Mr Mhlanga also mentioned that the expansion has had a direct impact on employment levels at the company.
“At present, we have about 400 workers, and the new project has employed an additional 21. Some of the workers running the plant were transferred from other sections,” he said.
This week, the Cabinet acknowledged the significant investment.
