ZIMBABWE Bodybuilding Arnold Classic team was dealt a major blow as favourite Champion Chienderamwano pulled out of the contest due to an injury.

The Botswana-based athlete said he cannot take part in the event as he has suffered a shoulder injury and only began training seven days ago which will not give him ample time to prepare for the prestigious tournament.

Chienderamwano said inasmuch as he wanted to participate in the inaugural Mr Arnold Classic Africa, he had no choice but to withdraw.

“It was my dream to be part of the Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Show and it is a dream for every bodybuilder to be on the international stage but my dream has been shattered because of a shoulder injury which is really paining me and there is nothing that I can do.

“My eyes are full of tears about this disappointment.

“I am a man of faith and my faith will not fail me.

“If it was not meant for me not to be there surely there is nothing I can do but I believe God will see me through and I wish Team Zimbabwe all the best,” Chienderamwano said.

The bodybuilder clinched the 2015 Mr Zimbabwe title as well and the Mr Iron Man and the Botswana Classic last year.

The inaugural African Arnold Classic contests are scheduled for Johannesburg, South Africa, from May 27-29.
