BULAWAYO giants Inline Academy are optimistic of cruising into the final of the NetOne Charity Cup after booking a semi-final berth at the expense of Cyclone Stars.
Inline Academy had a fruitful adventure in Mazowe beating Auckland 5-3 to proceed to the next round.
Team manager Takundwa Chimundiya expressed happiness with the girls’ display .
“I’m happy that we managed to go through despite the short time we had to prepare for this tournament, now our target is to proceed to the final.
“But we will take the next game with caution, because it can go either way, we hope to take full advantage of our home ground,” said Chimundiya.
He praised goal scorers Rudo Neshamba, Judith Lunga, Rejoyce Kampfumvuti and Priviledge Mbethi.
“The girls did well, their performance was outstanding especially the goal scorers, we hope they will continue to do the job because goals are important in tournaments,” he said.
Lady luck was against New Orleans as they were routed 7-0 by Black Rhinos at Luveve Stadium.
New Orleans coach Tobias Mudyambanje bemoaned lack of game time for his side’s loss against the seasoned army side.
Mudyambanje said it was a learning curve for most of the youngsters in their side, as they hope to build up from this tournament for the new season.
“Most of our players were youngsters, so it was a learning curve for them, we are going to build up from here, we hope the women’s league will go ahead this season,” he said.
