INLINE Academy coach Boga Ndebele said his side is determined to win the LM Auctioneers women’s soccer tournament scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday at Hartsfield Ground.
The team’s impressive performances in the Zifa Southern Region Women’s League saw them clinching the title with 57 points from 22 games consisting of 18 wins, three draws and one loss.
Ndebele said the girls are ready to take their fine form into the weekend tournament.
“We have prepared very well and the girls are geared up for the tournament.
“We are going to compete to the best of our abilities and ensure we snatch another title this year,” said Ndebele.
The LM Auctioneers tournament, which is making a return for the first time since 2012, will feature Botswana sides Double Action and Township Rollers, Harare-based Black Rhinos, Blue Swallows and Flame Lilly, Chipembere from Gweru and Hearts of Oak from Bulawayo.
Inline Academy will be out to prove why they are Southern Region champions, but they will have to overcome Botswana giants Double Action and Township Rollers to clinch the title.
The Botswana teams are yet to lose in the 2016/17 league, which Township Rollers are leading with 15 points from five outings.
Hearts of Oak will also provide Inline with their biggest challenge among the local teams, as they finished the season without a loss.
“We did well in the league, but this is football and any team in the tournament is a potential winner, so we are just going to treat everyone the same.
“We are going to have a lot of changes in the team, but I’m not going to reveal them now.
“What I can say is that there will be a lot of surprises in the team,” Ndebele said.
The LM Auctioneers women tournament has been well received as a way of bridging the gap between the women’s and men’s leagues, with sponsor Lewis Muzhara saying they are stepping up to provide a burning platform to unite the two league’s for the benefit of the girl child.
