RHUMBA fans are in for an Easter weekend treat as Meluleki “Brema” Moyo, leader of Insimbi ZeZhwane, celebrates his birthday with a special show at a braai spot in Mpopoma, Bulawayo, on Saturday.

The celebrations will feature a powerhouse line-up including Mxolisi “Mr Bones” Ndlovu and his Garamtata’s Finest Band, Godolude, and The Friendly Brothers. Fans will also get a chance to discover new talents such as Takalani Sounds from Gwanda and Santoyizo & Brothers Sounds from Lupane.
“It will be my first time hosting a birthday gig in Bulawayo, as I have always celebrated in South Africa,” Brema said.

“I’ve roped in my brothers from the music scene to spread the fun for music lovers. Since it falls on the Easter holiday, some fans coming from outside the country can relax and enjoy the music with their families.
“I’m also bringing in new talents to spice up the night and introduce up-and-coming musicians to a wider Bulawayo audience. We’ve seen them perform and they deserve to be showcased,” he added.

Brema, a talented bassist, encouraged fans to come ready to celebrate, promising that all performers will bring their A-game.

While the show is a celebration, the artists will not shy away from friendly competition, each aiming to leave their mark. Newcomers, in particular, will be eager to impress and win over the audience.
“The three headline artistes are major hitters in the genre, and having them together guarantees fans value for their money,” Brema said.

He added that the event aims to unite fans across Matabeleland, with representation from Lupane, Tsholotsho, Gwanda, and Plumtree, encouraging everyone to come in large numbers, and maybe bring birthday presents.
