Insiza steps up Independence Day preps

Insiza North would have its own celebrations apart from the main event, which would be held in the Matabeleland South capital, Gwanda.
The constituency’s celebrations would be held at St Luke’s Primary School in Kombo under Headman Nkosiyabo Dladla.
The constituency’s celebrations would be spiced up with activities such as drama, disco, a soccer tournament and a bicycle race.
The Senator for Insiza and Deputy President of the Senate, Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu donated a beast while the local legislator, Cde Andrew Langa donated two beasts.

Zanu-PF central committee member Cde Molly Mpofu donated 10 crates of drinks while the villagers weighed in with seven beasts.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at St Luke’s Primary School on Wednesday, Sen Ndlovu said after years of suppression  the country was liberated and that was a good reason to  celebrate.

“We fought for this country until it became independent. Our brothers and sisters shed their blood in the bush to liberate this country, so it means a lot to celebrate that sacrifice,” said Sen Ndlovu.
He said land was the main reason why the war of liberation  was fought and today Zimbabweans through Zanu-PF had land.

“We went to the bush to fight for the land that was taken from our forefathers by the whites. Today we have retaken the land and we should show that it is ours without hesitation and apology,” said Sen Ndlovu.
He said people should gear up for elections that will come soon after the referendum next month.

“When you hear President Mugabe repeating over and over that elections are coming we should gear up for them as they will be held soon after the referendum,” said Sen          Ndlovu.
He blamed the two MDC formations for delaying the constitution making process.

Sen Ndlovu said the MDC formations wanted to smuggle Western ideologies such as homosexuality into the constitution and as Zanu-PF they would not let that happen.
Speaking at the same occasion, Cde Mpofu took a swipe at MDC-T, saying the western funded party wanted to give back the farms to the whites.
She said there were farms lying idle and called for those not utilising the land to be removed from the farms.

“The MDC are people who want the farms to be given back to the whites and we shall not allow  that. The people who have not utilised the farms should be removed and the land given to people who want to work,” said Cde Mpofu to a round of applause from the crowd.

She said in ward 23 the MDC needed to be silenced, as they wanted to hold parallel independence celebrations.
“The MDC in the ward want to hold independence celebrations. Why? If you are anti-party then you are anti-land reform there needs to be a function that would silence the detractors that are in that ward.

“We fought for this country and we cannot let someone claim something that they do not know anything about,” said Cde Mpofu.
