Union public relations manager, Evelyn Maisvoreva, is expecting tense competition.
“The stage is set and tomorrow (today) there will be the practice round and I hope there is going to be tough competition.
“The major tournament will start the next morning,” said Maisvoreva.
Meanwhile, the rescheduled Mashwede invitational golf tournament will mark the opening of this year’s Zambezi Tour at Falcon Golf Club on March 3-4.
The tournament was supposed to be staged late last year but was postponed after the Zambezi Tour calendar closed before they registered.
Sponsored by businessman Alex “Dr Mash” Mashamhanda the US$15 000 tournament is expected to draw several professional golfers.
Mashamhanda is a Falcon Golf club member. The tournament was last held in 2007 with Tongoona Charamba winning the last tournament.
Falcon captain, Langton Chaota, said they were looking forward to a good tourney.
“Everything is in order now and we are hopeful that the tournament will proceed well. The postponement was due to logistical problems,” he said.
