South Africa-based, Gwanda-born musician Intercessor has once again put his creative stamp on a rhumba classic, releasing a fresh remake of Mxolisi Mr Bones’ hit Faka 2 Phezu Kwebhodlela.
Titled Faka 2 Phezu Kwebhodlela Remix, the track, produced by award-winning producer Lance Hebron, is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
The original song, also known as Bangihlangabeze Nge Case (Faka Two Phezu Kwebhodlela), has been a fan favourite for months and remains a festive season mood-setter.
Intercessor said his version embraces Lekompo, the latest Limpopo house sound.
“In 2022 I did a remake of Martin Sibanda & Ndolwane Super Sounds’ Konke Sizokulungisa in an Afro-pop style and it was well received by both rhumba fans and non-rhumba listeners. This time, I wanted to do something different that can uplift the rhumba genre and make it internationally recognised,” he said.
Following the success of his earlier remake, Intercessor revealed that several rhumba artists have approached him to rework their hits.
“Each time I get the chance, I will remix a rhumba song, provided I have an agreement with the artiste.” – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
