Upfumi Kuvadiki secretary general, Mr Tatenda Maroodza, said Mr Darikayi was booted out from the organisation on indiscipline charges.
The organisation came to prominence last year when it temporarily disrupted parking business by EasiPark that led to a demonstration that resulted in looting and destruction of property at the Gulf complex.
In a letter headlined, Expulsion of member from Upfumi Kuvadiki: Mr Alson Darikayi and addressed to stakeholders Mr Maroodza, said Mr Darikayi ceased to represent Upfumi Kuvadiki.
“We would like to inform you that (Mr) Alson Darikayi is no longer a member of Upfumi Kuvadiki Association. The association has resolved to expel him immediately and he no longer conducts any activities on its behalf,” he said.
Mr Maroodza said Mr Darikayi was “masquerading as chairman”, a post that does not exist. He said because of that and other activities in the name of the association without executive approval influenced the decision to expel him.
Mr Dirikayi, however, dismissed assertions that he was fired.
“As far as I am concerned, I am still the man in charge of Upfumi Kuvadiki, which mandate I was given by the interim executive after the dissolution of the founding executive,” he said.
Asked about the discord in the body, Mr Darikayi said he opposed moves by Mr Maroodza and friends to set up a company called Parking Patrol to bid for the takeover of parking business in the city after the exit of EasiHold of South Africa.
“I want us to have a company that really represents all youths and not individuals. After these guys saw the progress that we had made under my leadership they chose to form a private company.
“I said no to that and that is the cause of the friction between us,” he said.
Mr Darikayi said the youth empowerment group had agreed to form a company called Nehanda Parking.
He alleged Mr Maroodza clandestinely registered the company with funding from South African partners.
Asked to respond to allegations by Mr Darikayi, Mr Maroodza said the decision to expel him stood and should be known by all stakeholders.
