International designer to dress Miss Zim contestants

SOUTH Africa-based Zimbabwean fashion designer Spero Villioti is expected in the country today for the Miss Zimbabwe finalists’ dress rehearsal taking place at the pageants’ venue.The country’s flagship pageant, which had been dormant for the past three years, makes a return on Saturday at Mabvazuva Village (formerly Coronation Caravan Park) in Harare.

Villioti will dress the 15 beauties for the evening wear category.

He will also dress the girl who will be crowned Miss Zimbabwe when she represents the nation at the Miss World finale in London.

Two other Zimbabwean designers, Madame Chichi and Christians & Dominics have also been chosen to dress the contestants.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust secretary Terry Bharu said preparations for the Miss Zimbabwe finale were at an advanced stage with the models raring to go.

“The girls are excited about the big day and the mood is high. They will be going to a local beauty spa in preparation for the finale,” she said.

The beauty pageant, which is being held under the theme “Taking Zim-Asset to Greater Height”, will be broadcast live on ZBCtv.

Entertainment will be provided by Sulumani Chimbetu, Trevor Dongo and Jah Prayzah among other top artistes.

As part of her winning prizes, the winner will drive away in a Chevrolet Cruze while the first and second princess will each get Chevrolet Spark Lites.
