INTWASA Arts Festival koBulawayo director Raisedon Baya has encouraged all artistes who have not submitted their applications for this year’s edition of the fiesta to do so as the deadline is drawing close.
Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo will this year run from September 21 to 26 under the theme “My Intwasa, Your Intwasa, Our Intwasa, Let’s make it bigger together”.
The deadline for submissions is April 30.
Baya expressed concern at the slow rate at which artistes were submitting applications to be part of the festival.
“Artists should start bringing in their applications as we’re gearing up for another edition of Intwasa Festival. We’re concerned that artistes aren’t submitting their application forms at the same rate they were last year. We encourage them to do so as soon as possible to avoid the rush of last minute submissions,” he said.
Baya said artistes could visit their new offices at 2nd Floor Treger House office 22 to get application forms or on their website.
“Those who’re planning to perform should visit our offices for application forms. If they need additional information they can also visit our website. They can also submit through the email on our website or personally bring it to our offices,” Baya said.
This year the festival will be looking at innovation and diversity in the performances of artists.
“We seek to give artists a platform for maturity and growth in their performances. We’re going to accommodate everyone who wants to perform at the festival. Every artist will be given the chance to perform regardless of their genre,” Baya said.
He said this year the festival would add more venues to accommodate more artists.
“We’ll be adding more venues this year in a bid to grow the festival and be able to offer variety. The Amphitheatre will be used and we’re also planning to have a street venue that’ll be located somewhere in the CBD. We’re in talks with the city council to see which other facilities we can utilise during the festivities,” Baya said.
