IRAN Ambassador to Zimbabwe Abbas Navazani paid a courtesy call on Vice President Kembo Mohadi at his Munhumutapa offices this morning and they discussed several issues of mutual interest between the two nations.
Speaking soon after meeting Vice President Mohadi, Ambassador Navazani said his country is eager to implement the Memoranda of Understanding signed by the two countries last year when the late former Iran President Ebrahim Raisi visited Zimbabwe.

During President Raisi’s State visit, 12 agreements were signed, including plans for an Iranian company to establish a tractor manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe with a local partner.

The other MOUs are on energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications projects, as well as research, science, and technology.

The courtesy call followed Vice President Mohadi’s visit to Iran in July when he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the visit, VP Mohadi met with the new Iranian President Dr Pezeshkian and they agreed to expedite the implementation of the 12 agreements signed by the late President Raisi.

“This meeting was following up on issues that were discussed by the two high-ranking officials and many MOUs that were signed during the late President Raisi’s visit to Zimbabwe,” said Ambassador Navazani.

“Our new President has emphasised that we should implement all the MOUs signed by the two countries. There is need to accelerate and ramp up our activities to implement the agreements.”
He said there will be a mid-term review between Iran and Zimbabwe.
