A four-member delegation from the Red Crescent Society of Iran is in Zimbabwe to explore new areas of co-operation with their local counterparts. Speaking soon after arrival yesterday, Red Crescent Society of Iran deputy head for health, medicare and rehabilitation Dr Seyed Reza Reis Karami said the visit was meant to discuss pending issues with the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society.
“We are here so that we can discuss issues that can expand our relations with Zimbabwe since ZRCS is our counterpart in terms of health services,” he said.
“We want to have co-operation in the training of humanitarian services that can help to save people’s lives.”
Dr Karami said that there are three hospitals, 22 polyclinics, day clinics and medicare centres affiliated to RCS rendering humanitarian services to the needy in 17 Asian, African and Latin American states.
The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society is a beneficiary of RCS programmes.
