adminSpeaking to FNA, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force’s Artillery and Missile Unit Colonel Sadeq Davarzani said Iran is mass-producing self-propelled artillery weapons, among other hi-tech armaments, to strengthen its defensive power against potential threats.
“Given the presence of the trans-regional enemies around Iran, these types of artillery systems are being mass-produced and supplied to the Ground Force units after going under field and operational tests,” he said, adding that his forces have worked out various tactics for artillery use, including camouflaging and using artillery guns in asymmetric warfare.
Davarzani stated at the same time that the army tactics are fully indigenous and only for defensive purposes.
“Our war tactics are different from those of the other countries. Our strategy is defensive, meaning that we defend our country and do not want to take even one single step beyond our borders.”
Senior Iranian Army commanders have on many occasion said that Iran pursues a defensive doctrine in its military strategy, and reiterated that the country will never initiate a war.
“Our doctrine is defensive and based on the deterrence and we will never trigger a war,” Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said in September. — FNA.
