Irate fans trash blundering referee’s record shop

LONDON. Referee Jon Moss had his record shop TRASHED days after angering fans in his final ever game.

The newly-retired official has also allegedly received death threats following controversy in the Championship play-off final between Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield.

Police are investigating the incidents.

Moss came under fire for his performance in Sunday’s Wembley showdown as Huddersfield felt hard done by after seeing two penalty appeals be waived away in the £170million.

Harry Toffolo was clipped inside the area but was booked for diving.

Then Lewis O’Brien later went down under the challenge of Max Lowe and a penalty wasn’t awarded.

Forest went on to win the final 1-0 returning to the top-flight of English football for the first time since their 1999 relegation.

Along with the play-off final win comes a £170million cash windfall.

In the aftermath of the game, Town supporters took to Twitter to blast Moss’ refereeing performance.

One fan tweeted: “Jon Moss is by far one of the worst referees in the history of football, makes shocking decisions in almost every game.

“Huddersfield have been absolutely robbed of at least one penalty there, if not two!”

But it appears some have taken it a step too far with Moss allegedly receiving death threats and having the front of his Leeds record store damaged.

According to the Daily Star, police visited Moss’ record store to speak to him and they have launched an investigation into alleged death threats.

The report states that Moss believes the death threats are related to the abuse he received from Town fans after refereeing his final match.

The 51-year-old retired ref will now take up a new role as a Select Group 1 Manager at the PGMOL ahead of next season. – The Sun.
