Irvinex wins Carling Black Label DJ Clash

Rising wheel-spinner Dj Irvinex has been crowned the inaugural Carling Black Label DJ Clash champion.

The 21-year-old from Mutare shrugged off competition from 23 other contestants at a national clash held in Bulawayo over the weekend.

Dj Irvinex walked away with US$3000, a controller, Apple Mac Laptop, studio monitor and codeless microphone.

Born-Irven Maponga-the youthful disc jockey owed his success to his family and friends.

“It feels awesome, I’m so glad I won the national title, now it’s time to focus on my growth,” he said.

“I’ve been performing as a DJ since I was 10 years old, I want to thank my family and friends for encouraging me to pursue this path,” he added.

Dj Thando from Harare and DJ Toxi-Gin (Bulawayo) were first and second runners-up.

Dj Thando walked away with US$2000, a sound monitor and codeless microphone.

The 24 finalists were drawn from Bulawayo, Harare, Chitungwiza, Chinhoyi, Gweru, Masvingo and Mutare.

Organisers, Delta Corporation say they were amazed by the level of competitiveness and look forward to the next edition which is likely to be bigger and better.

“Congratulations to DJ Irvinex, we wish him well as he pursues his career as a DJ.

“As always this is our way to say thank you to our customers all over the country,” said Delta Corporation- marketing director, Irimayi Muzorewa.
