IS it really about Makhadzi or the South African dance goddess is simply a pawn in the endless turf war between Mai TT and Madam Boss?
Mai TT is calling for Makhadzi to be barred from performing at Alick Macheso’s Cheso Power Festival in Harare at the end of this month.
Madam Boss has been backing the diva to perform at the festival.
The event is being coordinated by Chipaz Promotions, in partnership with Macheso’s management.
Madam Boss, who is set to grace the event as one of the influencers, has been backing Makhadzi to come to Harare and perform.
A source said this is at the heart of the latest fallout between the two influencers.
“Mai TT is aware of who is in charge of the Cheso Power Festival,” the source said.
“This particular show will give Madam Boss the limelight and it is just unfortunate that Mai TT is fighting that.
“Yes, we are concerned about what is happening in South Africa, but is it fair now to fight fire with fire?
“We have done business with Makhadzi, whom we now consider as one of us.”
On her Facebook page, Mai TT criticised promoters for prioritising profit over people.
“Zimbabwean promoters only care about money in their pockets, forgetting that these very shows are what the masses would have come and paid for in support.
“The only way to return the favour is to stand with the people in times like these – but no, they would rather continue supporting their own pockets,” she wrote.
She added that Makhadzi should not perform on July 31 in Harare until all Zimbabweans affected in South Africa return home safely.
“That’s why these people laugh at us. We are a a***lickers, we are divided, we are cowards. How do we ever win when we are not even united?
“South Africans are not choosing which Zimbabwean should go or stay – but you Zimbabweans are choosing which South African to come and not come.
“You think bringing her here will stop xenophobia? Nyika yese kutongwa naMakhadzi.”
