Four years since he left the booth, controversial kasi hip-hop kingpin Mcheznana, who rose to fame with his comic style of rap, has bounced back with a single titled No More, a testimonial piece in which the rapper admits he is done with the things of the world.
The artiste, who was once accused of being a womaniser and routinely mocked as a a?brand ambassadora? of a local club after he became a regular at the joint, has seemingly turned a new leaf in his life.
The single which has phrases like a?I-beer lokudobha abantwana ngithi no morea?, simply means the dreadlocked wordsmith is done with imbibing and hooking with the thigh vendors which some accused of doing.
Mcheznana, who always made headlines for all the wrong reasons with his discriminatory song titled Albino featuring his partner in crime Khuxmaan leading to his downfall as it was banned from air play, admits the mistakes he made in his life as he says he was too young to make proper decisions which could build him as an artiste.
a?When youare young you always think for yourself and believe that what you do is right, flops are a part of a growing up process, now that am mature I have to do away with the things of the world like the single articulates,a? said Mcheznana.
The Yokozuna hit-maker, who was always neck on neck with Harare based hip-hop artistes Stunner and his controversially equal counterpart Maskiri who all treated local hip-hop fanatics with series of their beef replies against each other, said he has nothing to do with his haters as that wonat build him as an artiste.
However, hiding with the principles of the genre, he said he wonat tolerate with them as he is not scared of anyone.
a?Iam done with haters and I have already squashed the beef, I respect them as artistes but if they still want to go against me I am definitely going to reply because hip-hop is all about beef and I am not scared of anyone,a? Mcheznana said.
With him realising a warm up single for his yet to be titled album which will be launched early next year, fans should expect the bounce back of a giant as Mchez says he is ready to take over the game again.
