Isidingo’s ‘Papa G’ dies

Well-known Isidingo actor, Darlington Michaels passed away on Friday, September 13.

The Joburg-based actor died after a short illness at the age of 54.

Actorspaces confirmed the passing of the legendary actor Michaels in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Rest in Power to the legendary Darlington Michaels. A true icon whose talent and legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of many.”

“His immense contribution to the industry shaped South African television and left a profound impact on all who had the privilege to witness his artistry,” writes the publication.

The news of his death was also confirmed by the SABC on its social media pages.

“The SABC is deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary Darlington Michaels.

“His immense contribution to the entertainment industry will forever be remembered,” read the statement.

The veteran actor is best known for his role as flamboyant gangster Georgie “Papa G” Zamdela in the SABC3 soapie, Isidingo.
