A PETTY fight over leftover isitshwala and chicken ended in bloodshed when a Bulawayo man stabbed his twin brother twice on the head with a kitchen knife — and now the courts have lowered the boom.
Ironically, the feuding twins carry names steeped in battle. The attacker, Maqwawe which means the brave warrior, turned his rage on his brother Mabutho, which means the soldiers. What should have been a quiet dinner escalated into a battlefield of blood.
Maqwawe Ncube (26) of Iminyela suburb was this week sentenced to perform 280 hours of community service after pleading guilty to physical abuse.

Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga slapped him with seven months in jail, three months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour. The remaining four months were converted to 280 hours of community service at Western Commonage Court, starting tomorrow.

Prosecutor Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court the ugly fight erupted on 23 July around 7PM at the twins’ home. A simple argument over who would eat the leftover isitshwala and chicken spiralled out of control, with Maqwawe snapping in anger.
In the heat of the moment, the “warrior” grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the “soldier” twice on the head, leaving him with deep cuts that needed urgent hospital treatment.

And this isn’t the first time petty fights have spilled into the courts. Bulawayo magistrates say they are increasingly dealing with violent domestic showdowns triggered by small arguments over food, money and even remote controls — proof that tempers are boiling over in city households.
Well, In this battle of twins, isitshwala won the war!
