What boggles the mind though is are there no new songs to play during the Party Zone where housemates gather for a night out to entertain viewers.
One viewer even joked about Mafikizolo’s “Khona” being the anthem for this year’s season eight of the show.
Besides, “Khona” other songs on rotation include D’Banj’s “Oliver Twist”, Iyanya’s “Kukere” , “Dami Duro” by Davido and Vetkuk Vs Mahoota’s “Via Orlando”.
Almost every other DJ who appears on Party Zone in the Big Brother house hosted by Channel O are playing the above songs to a point that they are now boring .
One nauseating thing is some of the DJs act as if they are from Nigeria such that they even forget to play music from their own countries.
So far, the DJs who have been featured on the show have been unconvincing with some of them being clumsy on the decks while others appear like they don’t know their music.
And because of poor deejaying some housemates would rather entertain themselves outside the Party Zone when, in fact, they should be showcasing their fancy footwork.
Another glaring thing is that at least not every DJ who comes to the show actually watches Big Brother Africa — The Chase. We know one of the themes of the show is love, while others are chasing the prize money of US$300 000, others are busy chasing love.
The point is why are the DJs not playing slow gems so that those who are in love can embrace and forget about the sorrows in the house.
Maybe the DJs forget that it is their job to get people into the mood whether to feel sad or happy. Surely, as fans of Big Brother Africa we feel shortchanged by our DJs who lack depth and skill on the turntables.
So far what we have seen is mediocrity on the turn-tables.
The show is still on and the party continues but what we want to see is one good DJ who will rock both the viewers and the Chasers.
