We all want high grades out of any examination and exam preparation and proper planning is the key to any success.
Examination success is determined by passing the examination.

The following article highlights the importance of exams and also shares some of the examination preparation techniques that exam candidates can use to prepare and excel in their examinations.

Importance of examinations
On the road to success, exams are both the measure and the target of the persons’ knowledge or proficiency in a subject or skill.

Examinations results are used to gauge success of individuals in both schools and institutions outside school.

Examinations inspire students to reveal their capacities and show expected performance and provide feedback about their success level.

They also provide information about to what extent program objectives have been achieved and the effectiveness of the education program.

So, folks, there is no running away from them, “examinations.” When is yours?

Exam preparation
To get the better of an examination one has to manage all the aspects that contribute towards proper execution on the final day.

Stress, anxiety and self-doubt often are close friends to an examination period. Individuals who use examination strategies efficiently eliminate events that may cause them to fail an examination and turn the situation in their favour at stage of the exam by adopting a positive attitude towards the exam rather than developing anxiety.

Exams should be considered as opportunities, because they offer an opportunity for individuals to use what they learned.

These opportunities involve factors such as goal setting, plan development, motivation and controlling components.

The word examination also involves a process of self-regulation for an individual.

Self-regulated learning, is an active and constructive process in w hich an individual sets learning goals, develops plans, monitors self throughout the learning process and, cognitively and motivationally participate in own learning process by controlling own motivation and cognition.
Managing stress

A little stress around examinations can be a good thing, as it motivates you to put in the work. Some of the causes of stress are poor time management and leaving a larger part of the preparation to the last minute.

A simple and very practical way of managing stress is to develop a plan of action by
preparing well and organising your time and workloads.

This will help address that “out-of-control feeling”.

Managing anxiety
Poor study habits, poor past performance, fear of failure and an underlying anxiety problem can all contribute to examination anxiety. Simple ways of managing anxiety are being prepared and having a positive mental attitude.

In the end trust yourself, you know more than you think you do, nothing is impossible.

Not those who know how to run fast, but those who know how to control their breath and when to sprint to the finish, win the race.
