Italian firms gear up for ZITF

“The fair represents an important opportunity for Italian companies represented in Zimbabwe and those visiting Zimbabwe for the first time, to explore the Zimbabwean market.  For the past two years we have consistently hosted an official stand at ZITF to promote the Made in Italy brand, which is known internationally for quality engineering and technology.

We also showcase various goods and services to facilitate stronger trade relations between Zimbabwe and our country,” said Italian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Stefano Moscatelli.

Teofilo Solutions, an Italian company that manufactures aluminium products, will be exhibiting at the ZITF for the first time. The leading global company has more than 45 years’ experience in the manufacture of aluminium products including windows, doors, sun-breakers, shutters and railings.

The company has for decades served markets and clients in the Italian market as well as in Western Europe, Central America and Africa. It visits ZITF seeking to establish partnerships that will extend its footprint in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and Namibia.

The 2013 fair will also see the participation of Italian companies in the energy, construction, mining, agricultural machinery, motoring including, aluminium production and foodstuffs. Participating companies include Guastini Power Srl, a leading industrial holdings company comprising Ansaldo Energia, Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali, Fincantieri and Termomeccanica Pompe.

Other exhibitors at the Italian official pavilion include Salini Costruttori, Red Graniti, Spodale Investments, Tarrys (official agents for Landini and Gallignani brands), Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Peroni, New Holland and Iveco. The Dante Alighieri Society, the Italian cultural organisation, will also exhibit and disseminate information at the stand.

The Embassy of Italy in Zimbabwe works in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission which is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, to facilitate economic and commercial relations between Italy and Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Stefano Moscatelli said, “In recent months, we have seen a significant increase in inquiries from Italian companies interested in doing business with Zimbabwe. These include manufacturers of machinery for the mining industry, the plastic industry, earthmoving, solar photovoltaic plants, industrial motors, polyethylene piping, construction industry and footwear.”

He said the embassy and ICE play a key role in supporting the participation of Italian companies at the major trade promotion events including ZITF and Harare Agricultural Show.

This support includes providing information and assistance to enterprises interested in establishing business ties as well as coordinating relations between Italian and Zimbabwean institutions.

Italy contributes more than 13 percent of the European Union’s Gross Domestic Product. It is ranked sixth among OECD countries and fourth among European countries in terms of GDP.

Italy offers a wide range of business and commercial opportunities. The country is an important link for land, sea and air routes that provide a gateway to the North and South of Europe.
