THE long wait for high-flying adrenaline is finally over!
Tomorrow, the Bogwheelers Club will break a 15-month Supercross hiatus by hosting a highly-anticipated Supercross Fun Day at Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare.
The exciting motorcycling event marks a significant milestone for the local motocross community, which hasn’t seen a competitive Supercross layout since late 2024.
Despite a challenging rainy season that threatened to stall preparations, the Bogwheelers Club committee and dedicated track staff have worked around the clock to ensure the venue is in peak condition.
At the heart of the track preparations is Bryan Rocher, who has been spearheading the track reconstruction.
His focus this year has been on balancing the “wow factor” of Supercross with improved rider safety.
“The Supercross track is done,” Rocher confirmed. “I’ve tried to make it much safer, especially for the younger riders, and it seems to have better flow.”
Early testing suggests Rocher has hit the mark.
A group of 85cc riders recently took to the dirt to put the new layout through its paces. Reports from the dirt are glowing, with the younger riders reportedly “jumping everything with ease,” signalling that the track is built for the riders of our future, accessible enough for the rising stars.
With the gates opening this Saturday at 3pm, the Bogwheelers Club committee is optimistic about the turnout.
The combination of a fresh track design and the long absence of Supercross from the calendar is expected to draw a massive crowd of both riders and spectators.
