It’s all gloomy for Nyahokwe Mall tenants, shoppers

CUSTOMERS who are the clients of the business units at Nyahokwe Mall in the heart of Harare were left a dejected lot after a fire destroyed stocks on Monday.

The mall, located along George Silundika Avenue, just after First Street, caught fire on Monday due to a suspected electrical fault.

The incident could not have come at a worse time given this is the season when the shops, which are located at the Mall, get good business.

Many of the shops sell clothes.

The Mall is one of those which are owned by indegenous businessmen in the city.

Some of the buyers, who spoke to H-Metro, said they were now being forced to look for other alternatives.

The customers are now being barred from entering the mall as the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

“We do not know what caused the fire and it is very disheartening that we are now forced to look for other alternatives,” one regular customer said.

“It’s a big disappointment because we were now used to this mall, but we have to change now,” another customer said.

The amount of the damage is yet to be ascertained.
