J-Lo on new TV drama role

Jennifer Lopez’s first foray into a regular role on scripted television, “Shades of Blue”, will not première until winter 2016.

But the 45-year-old singer and actress shared an early look at the NBC series via her Instagram account on Tuesday.

In the two separate videos, Jennifer and co-star Ray Liotta (60), discussed their dark, complicated characters.

On “Shades of Blue”, Jennifer will star as Detective Harlee Santos, described by NBC as a single mother who “fell in with a tight-knit group of dirty cops”.

She later is trapped by the FBI into informing on her “brothers” and will “have to walk the fine line between love, loyalty, honour and betrayal”.

Jennifer explained her character’s dilemma in the “Shades of Blue” video focusing on Santos: “Good people do questionable things all the time.”

“At certain times, doing the wrong thing is the right thing,” she added.

The second “Shades of Blue” video released focused on Ray’s character of Lieutenant Bill Wozniak, a man the actor described as “not black and white”.

“There’s a lot of grey areas,” Ray hinted about his upcoming role.

Oscar winner Barry Levinson is an executive producer, with Ryan Seacrest producing the programme.

Also starring Warren Kole, Dayo Okeniyi, Drea de Matteo, Hampton Fluker, Vincent Laresca, and Sarah Jeffery, “Shades of Blue” is expected to air 13 episodes starting at mid-season.

In the meantime, Jennifer has plenty of work to keep her busy.

She performed at the Mawazine Festival in Morocco on Friday, will be a judge for American Idol’s final season, and has a 2016 Las Vegas residency show to prepare. – DailyMail.
