TEENAGE HADEBE is the second highest paid star at Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo.

The Zimbabwe international earns a base salary of US$1.014 million and a guaranteed salary of US$1.179 million a year.

Only Paraguay international forward, Sebastian Ferrera, earns more than Hadebe at the Texas club.

He has a base salary of US$1.6 million and a guaranteed salary of US$1.97 million.

Tim Parker is the third highest earner at the club on US$1 million, as a base salary, and US$1.179 million in his guaranteed salary.

Tyler Pasher is the least paid, in the senior squad, with a base salary of US$157 500 a year and a guaranteed salary of US$165 381.

Hadebe featured for Houston Dynamo on Saturday as they suffered a second straight defeat, on the road, in a 1-2 defeat at Orlando City.

The defeat meant the squad had subdued Father’s Day celebrations on Sunday although Hadebe still found a chance to enjoy the moment with his two kids.

They had suffered a 0-3 beating in their last match, before the international break, at Real Salt Lake.

Houston Dynamo have won five, drawn three and lost seven of their matches this season.

The club do not have a player in the top 20 league, of the highest-paid stars, in Major League Soccer.

“The MLS Player Association revealed the yearly salary guide for every team in Major League Soccer and, as usual, fans and pundits took notice of the top wages in MLS,” a report revealed.

“Inter Miami is the team that has the highest payroll at US$17.8 million in wages, while the Vancouver Whitecaps have a budget of US$8.6 Million and is the team that spends the least on salaries in the league.

“In a more global view, Major League Soccer is paying players much more than in previous years, even though the league was hit with US$1 billion in losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The average senior base salary for non-DP players is $398 725 compared to $191 505 in 2016.

“When it comes to the biggest earners in the league, one thing stands out, the lack of highly paid Americans. Out of the top 25 highest salaries in MLS only one of the 25 is from the United States.

“South Americans make up more than half of the highest paid players in the top 25, and Mexican internationals make up the two top earners in all of MLS.”

Former Arsenal forward, Carlos Vela, is the highest paid star in the MLS at US$6.3 million a year followed by Javier Hernandez, also known as Chicharito, at US$6 million.

Gonzalo Higuain is third at US$5.7 million, Alejandro Pozuelo is fourth on US$4.6 million and Josef Martinez is fifth on US$3.8 million.

All the players in the top 20 earn at least US$2 million a year.
