JACQUE Mgido, the mentor to many renowned make-up artists in the country, has taken it upon herself to propel the industry forward by establishing a make-up academy in the country.

She said:

“Numerous make-up artists have passed through my tutelage, but they lack certification. This is why I’ve decided to teach more women the art of make-up.

“By educating more individuals in make-up, we not only empower women in their daily lives but also contribute to the growth of the Zimbabwean film industry.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with famous Hollywood stars, who are admired by many.”

She added:

However, what if I told you that we can create extraordinary films right here?

“I am nurturing the talented ladies under my wing so that they can generate that same magic here.

“Instead of relying on make-up artists from South Africa for our films, producers can now acquire them directly from me, ensuring exceptional results.

“I firmly believe that we can produce movies that can meet international standards in Zimbabwe.

“All it takes is our collective effort to make it happen.”

Recently, she showcased her talent and enthusiasm for transforming the Zimbabwean film industry by applying special effects on Jah Prayzah, making him virtually unrecognisable.

The first group of make-up artists successfully completed their training and graduated over the weekend.  her guidance.
