Jada goes out – minus ring

JADA PINKETT-SMITH hasn’t been seen with her husband Will Smith in two months.
And with rumours stirring of an impending split, Jada Pinkett-Smith fuelled the fire even more on Monday night, as she attended the Make Equality Reality event at West Hollywood’s Montage Hotel.
Though the 42-year-old actress made eyes turn with her funky new hairdo, she made an even bolder statement by leaving her wedding ring at home.

Last week, RadarOnline reported that Jada and her 45-year-old husband of 15 years are on rocky ground, with the two living separate lives.
Will has been in New Orleans filming “Focus” since September. The power couple have not been photographed together since they were in New York City with their children on August 23.

And Jada has issued a few strange statements lately.
On October 23, she told the audience at the Associated Black Charities of Baltimore Girls’ Night Out Event: “When you are going through a storm with your spouse . . . stop thinking about what you ‘believe’ a husband or wife should be.”

“I thought success would make me happy . . . It does not,” Jada also reportedly said.
“Will and I can both do whatever we want because we trust each other to do so. This does not mean we have an open relationship. It means we have a grown one,” she allegedly added.

And last month, the Smiths listed their US$42 million Southern California residence after unloading their Hawaiian spread.
Jada’s hairdo — at Tuesday’s event that celebrated director, producer and screenwriter Joss Whedon was being honoured for his work on gender equality — may have been a scream for attention.

But while Joss rightly won the plaudits, special guest Jada turned her fair share of heads when she arrived at the black-tie dinner sporting a very familiar looking hairstyle.

Indeed, the actress appeared to have emulated young daughter Willow by opting for the distinctive “side-shave” hairstyle — a look generally inspired by the asymmetric look adopted fashion conscious teens in the late 80s and early 90s.

While her teenage years are far behind her, the 42-year-old somehow managed to pull it off as she sashayed inside for the cocktail party that preceded Monday’s main event.

The look was also reminiscent of Tina Turner’s outlandish appearance in 1985 film “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome”.
Tina plays ruthless town leader “Aunty Entity” in the post-apocalyptic action adventure — but while her character’s mercilessness was aimed at her townsfolk, Jada’s had evidently been aimed at the hair on either side of her head.

Further down the actress looked stunning in a sleeveless top with a bandage straps running across either shoulder.
The elegant ensemble was completed with a knee-length white skirt and strappy peep-toe heels, while accessories were tastefully kept to a minimum, thus allowing her outfit, and her hair, to take centre stage.

Make Equality Reality was thrown on behalf of global charity Equality Now, an organisation that aims to end violence and discrimination against women all over the world.

Jada’s solo appearance at the event comes amid claims that she and husband Will Smith are living apart.
