JADEL Football Academy founder and coach Walter ‘Ringers’ Musanhu has assured that the Zim-china based academy is set for more trips after successfully participating in a 100 Cup tournament in Beijing, China last week.
The team won the tournament against odds and the Under-11 players returned home on Friday with their medals.
Apart from winning the tournament, Jadel Academy clinched the Best managed team award while Musanhu was crowned coach of the tournament.
To cap a successful tour, Liam Moyo — son to former PSL striker More Moyo — was the top goal scorer at the tournament with 21 goals.
Musanhu said they were proud to have conquered Asia against all odds.
“We are very proud to be called champions of Asia.
“We would like to acknowledge all the people, who contributed financially and made sure that the trip went well from the parents and to all our partners including those from Scottland.
“They have been behind our back and made this trip successful.
“I was talking to Honourable Scott Sakupwanya and he was very interested in this project. He actually said he is ready to support us through the course and asked when we will be having our next trip.
“So we want these kids to have more exposure so that they won’t shake when they reach a certain age and exposed to the international stage. Several foreign, regional and local trips are lined up.
“Besides just being a football club we are saying no to racism, drugs abuse, child and women abuse.
“We are grooming players whom we believe they will be there to represent the country in its quest for glory in the 2034 World Cup,” he said.
Jadel Academy is in partnership with Scottland as they work as a conduit for junior development for the Northern Region Soccer League side.
Scottland chairman Tonderai Sakupwanya and club secretary general Fortune Bgwoni were part of the officials who welcomed the players on their arrival.
“We are here as Scottland, and I am proud of Jadel,” said Bgwoni.
“We are in partnership with Jadel for the development of junior football. The academy is now part of Scottland and they are grooming players who will be tapped into Scottland senior team.
“We don’t want the team to be only found in Mbare but it is going to also come in Mabvuku and also all parts of Harare with a vision to go nationwide,” he said.
The tournament had 164 teams, including select sides and the team had to play 10 games before they were crowned champions.
The youngsters, who travelled from Jadel Academy Zimbabwe include;
Tafara Machiwenyika, Oneas Nyateka, Nicole Tashinga Wilbesi, Malcom Tadiwanashe Dinyero, Liam Moyo, Cristiano Konono, Ashley Tanatswa Zimbawu, Sean Pesani, Nyashadzashe Mordecai Tungwarara, Alisha Muhammed and Farali Murisho.
