Musician Jah Prayzah and his band, the Third Generation, have pulled out of the Jacaranda Music Festival, which gets underway today.

The band was plunged into mourning following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of businessman Wicknell Chivayo, his wife and three others.

In a statement released today, the musician said they are “simply not in a position to go on stage at this time”.

The development comes after the musician also cancelled his wedding in the wake of the tragedy.

“Following the recent tragedy and loss that has deeply affected me and the entire team, we are simply not in a position to go on stage at this time,” he said.

He thanked the Jacaranda Music Festival organisers for their understanding and support, while urging fans who had planned to attend to continue supporting the festival.
