CONFECTIONARY cannibalism was last week introduced to Zimbabweans when Jah Prayzah celebrated his 30th birthday with a life-sized cake.

Cannibalism is a ritual of eating a person’s flesh or internal organs to endow the cannibal with some of the characteristics of the deceased.

Now with confectionary cannibalism, the fan will leave with the satisfaction of saying “I’ve eaten Jah Prayzah” through a cake. So those who wanted to taste Jah Prayzah made a beeline to Alex Sports Club last weekend to indulge in the ritual of eating their favourite celebrity.

The life-sized cake fed about 600 guests who attended the party and they gobbled up every part of Jah Prayzah including the ears, nose, eyes and even the groin area.

And like Fifty Shades Darker star Jamie Dornan ate a life-size version of himself when he appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Valentine’s Day this year, Jah Prayzah performed a form of self cannibalism and had a nibble of himself. His wife also devoured her husband’s sweeter version.

The edible version of the chart-topping superstar was made by Cake Link, a company based in Harare. The company joined Dubai’s Broadway Bakery who made a four-foot cake of Game of Thrones fan favourite, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

Jah Prayzah also joins the likes of Ed Sheeran, Marilyn Munroe, Betty White and the like who have had life-sized cakes made for their birthdays.

While some fans were intrigued with the cake, some, especially male fans vowed not to eat it as they felt that this new craze of eating a celebrity through cake was tantamount to eating another human being.

Maybe because Jah Prayzah cannot be reached because of his ever rising superstardom, the only way to be close to him is to get pieces of him through the life-sized cake.
