CHITUNGWIZA-based musician, Mukudzei “Jah Prayzah” Mukombe and the Third Generation, will this week bring their Tsviriyo act to Bulawayo for what is promising to be a thrilling Friday night. Local musicians, Derrick Majaivana and Digital Queen will curtain raise the show.In an interview, event promoter Tapiwa Ganda, said fans should expect a great show from Jah Prayzah because he is one of the best at the moment and is riding high on the his song Tsviriyo.
“This is his second coming and with what we saw during his first visit, we are confident it will be one of the best shows.
“His song Tsviriyo has been doing well on radio and now, we are bringing it live for the first time to Bulawayo. Fans should come in their numbers to see this great performer in action,” he said.
On his part, Jah Prayzah said he is now a different musician from the one Bulawayo saw the last time.
“We have grown as a band and our stage performances have improved. We have added dancers to our act and Bulawayo should be ready to be entertained with both new and old songs. Everyone should come because there will not be another show like this one,” he said.
The talented musician has a good voice that can get the attention of everyone when he starts singing. His songs are characterised by carefully thought out lyrics accompanied by good backing vocals.
The 25-year-old Uzumba born artiste encouraged fans to attend his show and get a chance to witness what the Third Generation is all about.
“People should come and see for themselves, it will be hard to find someone who will explain my performance to you if you miss out. Everyone who loves my music has to be at this show and see me in action,” he said.
Jah Prayzah’s music career began while he was at school in 2001, and has risen to prominence with songs such as Gochi Gochi, Maria, Sungano and Sorry Mama, which have made him a household name.
He has not looked back and is regarded as one of his generation’s best musicians. He collaborated with Sulumani Chimbetu on his Sean Timba (Batai Munhu) song as well as with Oliver “Tuku” Mutukudzi and Progress Chipfumo on songs Cecelia and Yambuka Rukova on his Tsviriyo album.
To date he has recorded four albums, Rudo Nerunyararo (2009), Sungano Yerudo (2007), Ngwarira Kuparara (2011) Miridzo (2012) and Tsviriyo (2013).
His song Chirangano Cherudo was voted most popular song, while party anthem Gochi Gochi came second on Radio Zimbabwe Top 50, 2012 competition. His video Maria was voted best on ZBC TV’s shutdown chart show that same year.
