High-riding contemporary musician Jah Prayzah has stepped up efforts to keep his relationship with fans cordial by pledging to make available footage of all his foreign tours at giveaway prices.
The musician’s manager said this on the sidelines of his Big Apple show at the weekend.
The show that attracted a full house had the DVD of Jah Prayzah’s Australia tour that he undertook in January selling like hot cakes for a dollar.
This, according to his manager Keen Mushapaidze, is the new approach in their camp.
“People don’t really know what goes on when we travel outside the country, so we want them to witness it on the DVDs.
Most of these foreign tours also require that we trim the band and there has been a misconception that we give half-baked performances but this is not the case,” said Mushapaidze.
Speaking on the giveaway prices, the manager said it was inspired by the need to get the material to the people.
Quizzed on why they are not using the same concept in the pricing of the musician’s latest album, “Jerusarema”, Mushapaidze had this to say:
“Jah Prayzah’s last album is available at our offices and a number of selected stores and they are still going for US$10. The price is determined by the cost and resources that we put in making the album and while piracy is inevitable, we believe there are people who value the product enough to buy it at US$10,” he said.
He, however, said the management was working out plans to make affordable copies available on the market. He said the management were in the process of buying budget CDs from South Africa
Jah Prayzah is riding high on the success of his latest album that has put him among the country’s music heavyweights.
The musician has also had his fair share of disappointments with an unsuccessful United Kingdom campaign three weeks ago.
