The album will see the young artiste flex his multiple skills as a producer, pianist and vocalist.
The young musician’s debut album will be titled Selimathunzi, and will see him offer music lovers a blend of music genres like house, jazz and Afro-Soul. The hybrid mixture of musical styles will make his music appealing to a greater number of people.
In an interview, manager of the young upstart, Thembi Zulu, said the young artiste whose preferred field was jazz and Afro-soul, had decided to put house music into his work. He believed the popularity of the genre will make his music appealing to as wide a range of people as possible.
“The album will delve into multiple genres which shall showcase the level of versatility that he has. The incorporation of multiple genres is also a way for the artiste to attract a fan base that he would not otherwise have access to if he was only looking at one genre,” she said.
She said the sound that the young artiste exhibited was akin to the music made by the likes of Don Gumbo and Lovemore Majaivana who inspired him. She said like the duo, Jahbue wanted to be the next to put the City of Kings on the musical map.
“Jahbue’s ambition is to rise and become the next best thing in local music circles. His aim is to be influential on the local music scene as the likes of Lovemore Majaivana and Don Gumbo were in bygone years,” she said.
Zulu said that the young artiste’s ultimate aim was to expand his influence in the country, as he believes that music is not taken as a viable career option at the present moment. She said his ultimate ambition was to penetrate the African market and also establish his own label.
“Jahbue plans to be a shining example to other young artistes because he believes that the local music industry is in dire need of new ideas. He will also like to open up his own label and support other artistes like him that are faced with financial troubles at the infancy of their careers,” she said.
