A 27-YEAR-OLD Mangwe woman will spend the next three months in prison for defaulting on community service. Pinky Ndlovu of Khahlu area was last month sentenced to 150 hours of community service which she had to perform at Khahlu Primary School. She was told that if she defaulted she would serve a three month jail sentence. Ndlovu did not turn up to serve her community.
Ndlovu, who pleaded for leniency, explained that she had instead gone to look for work instead of performing community service.
“I rely on doing piece jobs in order to sustain my family. My mother is very ill and I am the only one she is relying on because she lives under my care. My youngest child is six months old and I had to provide for her somehow,” she said.
