Jairos Tapera begins work

JAIROS Tapera started work as Shabanie Mine technical manager yesterday afternoon and his first training session attracted a sizeable number of the team’s fans.
The Zimbabwe national Under-20 team coach said his immediate task is to take help the team rise from the relegation zone.
“I have accepted the job and I have to save the team from relegation.

I was born in Zvishavane and I wouldn’t love to see my home team being relegated,” said Tapera.
“There is a lot of work to be done because the team is dead.

“It’s more like being asked to make a dead body rise and walk.
I have been a soldier for 25 years and in war its either you win or lose.

“I hope I am going to win and all I need is support.
People must bury their differences and we must work together to save the team from the jaws of relegation.”

Tapera is admired by a number of fans after guiding neighbours FC Platinum into the Premiership in 2010.
His arrival at Maglas saw assistant coach David Matsveru being axed from his position to create room for a new goalkeepers’ coach.

“Shabanie is like Dynamos or Highlanders who have been there before.
They have passionate fans who love their team and I am excited to work with them and also prove that I am capable of bringing positive results,” said Tapera.

Shabanie Mine coach, John Phiri, and Arnold Jani will work with Tapera.
“I am learning and his arrival will give me new ideas and mould me to be a better coach.

I will give him my hundred percent support,” said Phiri.
Shabanie Mine players bonuses were also increased from US$150 to US$250 per win.
