TWO people are suspected to have died after a 15-tonne DAF truck carrying bricks and a Toyota Funcargo collided in Bulawayo on Saturday evening.
Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo said the DAF truck was carrying five passengers, while the Toyota Funcargo had three passengers on board.
Two people were trapped in the vehicles and had to be extricated by Bulawayo Fire Brigade crews.
“A 15-tonne DAF truck with five passengers carrying bricks collided with a Toyota Funcargo carrying three passengers. Two passengers were trapped and extricated by Brigade,” said Mr Moyo.
He said the two trapped passengers were suspected to have been dead on arrival, while another person sustained serious injuries.
“The two passengers are suspected dead on arrival. One person sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to Mpilo Hospital by a Brigade ambulance,” he said.
Fire Brigade crews also rendered the vehicles and roadway safe following the crash.
