FORMER Dynamos captain, Emmanuel Jalai, says he will forever be indebted to Dynamos where he spent six fruitful years, and insists the switch to city rivals Scottland was purely a football business move.

Jalai is joining the Zimbabwean champions on a six-month loan deal from Betway Premiership side Durban City.

Scottland have a partnership deal with Durban City, who signed Jalai at the beginning of the year.

Durban City, who are now the owners of the player, triggered the move after Scottland came with an offer for the Zimbabwe international.

Speaking out for the first time since completing his move to Mabvirarira, Jalai also paid tribute to Dynamos for laying the platform for him.

“I think football is full of emotions and attachments, but after all we are professionals and we have to abide by the rules and directives that come from our parent clubs,” Jalai said.

Jalai returned home Monday morning from Durban where he had gone to finalise the move to Scottland.

His move to Scottland has gone viral given his status in local football.

The roving right back, who also played for Zimbabwe at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, captained Dynamos for three years.

He led DeMbare to Chibuku Super Cup glory last season.

In May, Jalai also won the Nedbank Cup with Durban City, who will play in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Scottland won the local Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title last season and will feature in the CAF Champions League, the continent’s top knock-out tournament.

“It’s good to be back home but of course, Dynamos have been my former paymasters.

“They looked after me for six years. I was the captain for three years, so it means a lot for me.

“But after all, I am a footballer and my job is to make people happy.

“Nonetheless, I will forever be indebted to Dynamos. They are always in my heart,” added Jalai.

The star is hoping for the best at Scottland, where he will play in the CAF Champions League.

“I think the team (Scottland) is doing a good job.

“You can see the results that have been posted on the plate, but I think there is still a long way to go.

“But of course, the project is promising, so we are hoping for the best.”

Jalai insisted football is a team sport and less focus should be given to individuals.

“They (fans) just have to keep on supporting the team, not the individual.

“Because if you look at it, Scottland is a team full of quality. What matters most is the team. “
