FORMER Premier Soccer League players have flocked to join the social side, Jameson Boys and turned it into one of the most exciting teams.
They have a number of former top-flight league players – Ephraim Mazarura, Nathan Ziwini, Sydney Linyama, Elvis Meleka, Silus Gwagwadza, Samuel Chandiwana, Fungai Burira, Richard Mteki and Samuel Chikochi.
In a way, Jameson Boys feel like a reincarnation of defunct Premiership club, Lengthens, who once represented the country in the CAF inter-club tournaments.
Jameson are not affiliated to any social league.
They randomly select their opponents, including those who play in the registered leagues.
They are sponsored by a group of football administrators. Gladman “Dallas” Sekawawana is the director of football, in charge of the entire team’s fixtures and welfare.
A club official told H-Metro that discipline was key for one to be part of their project.
“We are not part of any official social league.
“We pick our opponents randomly. The joining process is very simple and straightforward.
“One has to show great commitment by attending our games regularly.
“Discipline is of importance on and off the field,” said a club official.
He said the directors of the club are well known in the football sectors.
“They are very passionate football people who decided to form this team.
“We have instilled a winning mentality,” he said.
