Jamhuri jet in for date with Hwange

Jamhuri, who lost 3-0 to Hwange         in the reverse fixture, were expected  to sleep over in Bulawayo last              night before to proceeding to                 Victoria Falls where they will be           staying ahead of their game against Chipangano on Sunday at the Colliery.
According to Caf statues, it’s the obligation of the hosting team to          provide air travel when the visiting team are playing the match at a           venue that is more than 200km           from the capital city if the route is serviced.
Jamhuri arrived at Harare International Airport around mid-morning yesterday and then connected to Hwange.
Hwange secretary Burzil Dube believes they have done everything in their power to ensure a comfortable trip for their opponents.
“While Caf states that a team has           to be flown if they are playing           200km from the capital, but there is nothing we could do.
We had told Jamhuri way before that they should arrive in Bulawayo or even Victoria Falls but they opted to come via Harare.
“And, at the moment the national airline is not operating, so there was nothing we could do.
“They opted to travel by road and have written an e-mail to confirm this arrangement,” said Dube.
Dube believes the e-mail vindicates them from any wrongdoing.
“We asked them to write an                 email to confirm that they are okay          to travel by road and they had done that.
“This email has also been copied to Caf so we don’t anticipate any problems,” said Dube.
Zifa communications manager, Nicky Dhlamini, also confirmed that Jamhuri had committed themselves to travelling by road to Caf.
“They made a commitment that they are fine travelling by road,” said Dhlamini.  
Hwange spokesman Dube said the community in Hwange was now eagerly awaiting the match at Colliery on Sunday.
“Jamhuri will be staying in Victoria Falls and we then play on Sunday. We are just ready for the return fixture,” said Dube.
