Japanese ambassador touts Expo 2025 Osaka as key investment platform for Zimbabwe

Senior Business Writer

JAPAN’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe  has said the forthcoming Osaka Expo 2025 presents a unique platform for Zimbabwe to attract investment.

Speaking in Bulawayo today at a two-day National Multi-Stakeholders conference for the Expo Osaka 2025, Mr Shinichi said more than 160 countries are expected to exhibit at Expo 2025 and around 28 million visitors over the 184 days from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

Zimbabwe is participating in Expo 2025 Osaka under the Connecting Lives Zone and will exhibit under the national theme “Beyond the Limit.”

The event is held under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”

“The Expo will be a great platform for Zimbabwe to showcase its economic, business and tourism potential to the world as well as share ideas, showcase solutions and forge new partnerships,” said Mr Shinichi.

“In order to welcome the people of Zimbabwe and around the world to the Expo, the Japanese government, local governments, and Japanese are working together to make all-out preparations, not only for the Expo site and pavilions but also for the start of various exchange programmes with people from other countries.”

The ambassador noted that Zimbabwe’s theme “Designing Future Society for our Lives,” will also be an opportunity for the country to contribute to the collective dialogue on addressing the pressing challenges of our time and shaping a better future for all.

He told delegates that he recently visited Victoria Falls for the first time since his arrival in the country and participated in the Econet Victoria Falls Marathon.

“I marvelled at the great and beautiful nature beyond our Japanese imagination, and I was also able to directly experience the warm hospitality of the Zimbabwean people on various occasions including a Sunset cruising boat tour of the Zambezi River.

“I hope that Zimbabwe’s pavilion will provide an experience that will enable not only the Japanese people but also people from other countries to discover Zimbabwe’s great nature, the splendour of its people and the potential of its economic activities.

“It is indeed my hope that these experiences will further deepen mutual understanding between the people of our two countries and promote tourism and other forms of human interaction.”
