Jasen Mphepo releases ‘love triangle’ thriller

words, eight letters and one meaning, hence the title of the film,” he said.
“8.3.1” is a love story revolving around Zvanyadza (played by Caroline Mashingaidze), who finds herself at the centre of a love triangle involving two rival suitors, Timothy (George Tanjani popularly known as Jiggaz) and Kingpin Rogers (Michael Kudakwashe).
Timothy is a young, ambitious man, who returns home from South Africa after four years of study.

He falls in love with Zyanyadza, a young beautiful girl from the neighbourhood.
Unbeknown to him, she is already going out with Kingpin Rogers, a gang leader, who is not happy with this relationship.
A feud develops between the two men,  who then decide to settle their score over a football match.

The winner will walk away with the girl.
The film takes a new twist when Timothy instead of finishing the game, decides to run away away with the girl.
Kingpin Rogers follows after them and guns down Timothy.

Zvanyadza kills herself in the process.
It is a movie with many lessons, that double-crossing, deception and violence do not pay.
It also tackles sexual and reproductive health as well as inter-generational issues.

“We are planning to take the film to different festivals in Zimbabwe, the region as well as international ones.
“We are also going to engage some non-governmental organisations to have the film distributed on the streets especially among youths since it deals with some issues that affect them,” Mphepo said.

He said they funded the production of the company using resources from his film and media company, Jey C Entertainment.
“The problem with the film industry in Zimbabwe is lack of adequate resources and therefore proper equipment.

“But with time we will eventually reach the levels reached by countries like South Africa,” he said.
The filmmaker has in the past won two Nama awards for the Best Film Producer and Best Film Director.

He has written and directed the short films “New Dawn”, “Pfuma”, “Mudiwa” and “Paradzai”.
Some of the productions he has been involved with include the television soap “Suburb D” and “Ghetto Fellas”.
