FORMER Isithende SikaZulu dancer, Prosper “Golide” Tshuma has expressed his desire to become the next outstanding jazz artiste in town.
Aged 32, Golide said being a singer has always been a dream, and it was time to make that dream a reality.
“I decided to follow my dream as a jazz singer because it appeals for mature people. Dancing is for the young generation not for old people. However, I am very proud of my career as a dancer as it helped me fight poverty. I managed to support my family. Bulawayo is full of talented people and it’s my aim to rub shoulders with various artistes who have made it in the industry. From them, I will learn new skills that will build a reinforced foundation of my jazz career,” he said.
Golide said his jazz dream started when he was an Isithende ensemble dancer.
“Isithende was a group that did contemporary and traditional dance to attract massive audience. The group was not only a dance group as we also practiced and sang various songs. That was when my dream to become a jazz star started. I have worked hard to make the dream a reality,” he said.
Golide thanked people who have been supportive in his entire career as a dancer and expressed hope for the same support in his new adventure.
“I want to thank my family for being there for me in difficult and good times. To my band members; Blessing Sikhosana and Ashly Ndlovu lets keep going and we shall thrive. Fans can expect fresh projects soon,” he said.
Based in the City of Kings, Golide is gradually making a name for himself as he has been hosting gigs every weekend. On Fridays, he is always wowing fans at the Hockey Bar, on Saturdays he will be cracking the stage in Casino while on Sundays he will be performing at Nketa Sports Bar in Bulawayo.
The budding jazz singer has been wowing people with his debut offering titled Ophethe Konke, and has formed a jazz band called Smart Birds Band.-@NcubeBhekumuzi
